While we collectively await better news from Uganda’s Human Rights situation, we’d like to highlight one of our recent favorites, new music from one of East Africa’s shining lights, Juliana Kanyomozi. Certainly a star, but avowedly unpolitical, unlike Bobi Wine.
Meanwhile, the disturbing and disgraceful closure of the UN Human Rights Office in Uganda has severe implications for the state of public health in Uganda, especially for outreach to at-risk populations. Even gathering effective statistics, and disseminating accurate information, are imperiled.
Let us keep in mind that the median age in Uganda is 15.9 (The United States is 37.6 by comparison.) President Museveni is 78, and seems intent on retaining power for himself and his cronies. See also the UN Human Development Reports.
